The Scottish Forum on Natural Capital is delighted to be involved in the third World Forum on Natural Capital which will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Edinburgh on 27-28 November 2017 and will again be at the forefront of developments in this rapidly evolving field. On the theme of ‘Better decisions for a better world’, the event will explore how integrating natural capital principles into decision-making – with a particular focus on the growing green economy – can help secure better social, economic and environmental outcomes, reducing business risks and driving innovation.
The Scottish Forum are pleased to announce that an exclusive discount has been negotiated for representatives from the 80+ member organisations of the Scottish Forum to attend the World Forum. Representatives from member organisations can receive a 30% discount on tickets purchased from today, including early bird tickets which are available until 30 September. If your organisation is not yet a member of the Scottish Forum you can receive these benefits by signing up for membership.
The event will once again be divided into four parallel streams, details of which are on the World Forum website. The world-class plenaries and interactive parallel sessions in the four conference streams will provide first-hand accounts from business practitioners, insights into emerging trends, evidence from cutting-edge case studies and an opportunity to shape future developments.High-level networking will facilitate collaboration and learning between different sectors, with new sessions scheduled for 2017.
Natural capital is vital to all parts of Scotland's society and economy and the private, public and voluntary sectors all have important roles to play in ensuring it is protected and enhanced. "A Nation With Ambition" the Scottish Government's Programme for Government 2017-18 recognises that
"Scotland’s natural capital is fundamental to our success as a nation and is the essence of Scotland’s global brand."
This year the organisers have chosen three questions to kick-start the conversation.
The World Forum is once again being organised by the Scottish Wildlife Trust in association with UN Environment; International Union for Conservation of Nature; World Business Council for Sustainable Development; Natural Capital Coalition and new for 2017, the Green Economy Coalition.
Join us in Edinburgh to help shape a powerful vision for better decision making.
