On the 23rd November 2017, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Forum on Natural Capital convened a high-level roundtable in Edinburgh to determine how to take forward the Scottish Government's commitments of protecting and rebuilding natural capital. Bringing together 18 public sector bodies in Scotland, including NHS – Health Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Water, the discussion was the first of its kind to have taken place in the UK.

From the day's discussions, it was identified that four main categories of action were needed going forward. These included gathering data and evidence, fostering collaboration between public sector bodies, developing skills within their own organisations, and encouraging positive public-private partnerships.

Due to the success of the meeting, it was agreed that the participants would take forward their actions and convene again the next year.
