First Steering Group Meeting

The first Steering Group meeting was held on 17th April 2014. The group discussed the desired outcomes from the initiative: 

UNDERSTANDING 

• Understanding potential negative impact on
  – Scottish economy of mismanaged natural capital  
  – Scottish natural capital of misused natural capital accounting  
• Understanding business opportunities for own organisation associated with Natural Capital Accounting  
• Understanding business risk of poorly managed natural capital  
• Catching up with/staying ahead of similar organisations  
• Create benefits for nature  

COMMUNICATING 

• Communicate Natural Capital Accounting benefits 
• Translating research into tangible results & sharing expertise  

 TOOLS 

• Mechanism for improving natural capital protection  
• Decision-making tools
• Using NCA to generate income  
• Data to inform and avoid financial risks
